The YOU Reading Group was started in January, 1998, as a way to encourage our readers to find time in their busy lives to enjoy good books. Our first choice was Captain Corelli’s Mandolin by Louis de Bernières, and since then we have continued to recommend some of the best books around and make them available at the best possible price. It is something which caught the imagination of our readers from the beginning.

The idea is simple: on the first Sunday of each month we choose a great title and offer it at a bargain price in YOU Magazine and through our dedicated website, www.youreadinggroup.co.uk. As well as a review of the book, we provide a biography of the author, suggested discussion topics and, where possible, an exclusive article by the author highlighting the background and themes to their books. To keep costs down, all our choices are paperbacks - and they are delivered to your door from our mail-order bookshop. It’s a unique package, designed to help you get the most from your reading. There is nothing formal about the group. You can use our choices and reading notes for your own book groups, or simply use the magazine and website as your reading partner. And you don’t have to sign up to anything or commit to buying a certain number of books. Simply buy the ones you like the sound of. Whether it’s one or two a year, or all 12, it’s up to you. The main thing is that you are able to set aside some ‘me’ time to enjoy the pleasure of reading.
